Welcome to The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach.

This is Maui's most famous resort beach area. The Whaler contains 360 luxurious family condominiums, in two identical, beachfront towers, each 12 stories high: Each has studios, one and two bedroom units; only a small percentage of which are rented privately. The Studios accommodate up to two adults, and is a honeymoon couples perfect get-away.

The Whaler is located in the very center of Kaanapali Beach, Maui, and is adjacent to Whalers Village shopping center, with upscale stores, fine and casual dining, and nightly music performances. The Whaler is bordered by the two Kaanapali Golf Courses (36 holes), and it's only a short walk up the sandy beach to prized snorkeling at Sheraton Black Rock. Walk to fine dining at five major hotels; plus, you are only a 10 minute drive to Lahaina's attractions, as well as three major grocery stores. You will have full guest access to The Whaler swimming pool and whirlpool spa, five tennis courts (a fee is required), well equipped workout gym, sauna, and gas BBQs. A professional massage service and small general store are provided on site, as well as a concierge to help plan tourist activities. You can board catamaran charter cruises and parasail rentals next door, right at Whalers Village.

All Whaler Studios are around 640 square feet (including 98 s.f. of lanai). By comparison, most other studio condominiums in the West Maui area are considerably smaller, some even less than 500 s.f. (and some one bedroom units are even smaller than our Studios!). All Studios are located near the center of each Tower. All Whaler units have air conditioning (many West Maui resorts have no A/C). Most owers take pride in their units and so most have been extensively refurnished and are truly gorgeous and are always making improvements!

For larger units to sleep more people, there are the 1 bedroom with 1 or 2 baths and also 2 bedroom 2 bath units.
Here are the floor plans for each.

The large lanais are decorated with pretty, blue mosaic tile floors and equipped with patio furniture. Most units have cable TV and VCR's. The dressing area has a walk-in closet, which is next to a marble bathroom-vanity (tub with shower). Kitchens have full-sized appliances and are well equipped with cooking utensils and housewares (just in case you don't eat out every night!). Maid service is provided, but usually on a weekly basis. Ask owner for specific details. Free beach towels are available daily at the pool kiosk.

A major draw for all our guests is being located right in the heart of the entire Kaanapali Resort complex, which is, by itself, one of Maui's prime tourist attractions. Thus, you will be within a 15 minute walk of five major hotels and their restaurants (fine dinners and brunch extravaganzas), and also next to Whalers Village, with its shopping and three more restaurants: Leilani's and the Hula Grill are exceptionally popular among all Maui visitors. The Village also has an inexpensive Food Court, including a McDonald's Express. There are over one dozen quality apparel shops, fancy boutiques and jewelry stores; there is also a wide array of shops meeting special tourist needs, including an ABC variety store, WaldenBooks, and Maui Dive Shop. The Village is also a convenient stop for the West Maui Shuttle, an inexpensive, open-air trolley connecting Lahaina with all of West Maui. Enjoy free evening "hula shows" at the Village, performed by a variety of different Polynesian song and dance groups (7-7:45 most evenings).

Even better, the 5 local hotels -- Sheraton, Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Westin, Marriott, and Hyatt--are a major tourist attraction in themselves, given the opulence of their open-air lobbies and shops, lushly landscaped grounds and grandiose pool complexes, as well as exotic flamingos, miniature penguins, rare cranes, parrots and swans. You will stroll with the other delighted passersby, exchanging a chorus of "oohs and ahs." The entire strip of hotels, Whalers Village, two Kaanapali golf courses, and The Whaler are connected by a common, paved Beachwalk and the 1.5 mile long beach, providing the opportunity for daily walks or jogs through paradise; the entire setting becomes even more unforgettable every evening, as visitors are drawn to dramatic sunsets over the beach and Lanai. The ocean, with its two neighboring islands, golden sands and palm trees line the Beachwalk...and on the other side are the hotels themselves, the gorgeous green landscape of the two Kaanapali golf courses, and the colorful West Maui Mountains in the background. It's ALL right there and just outside your door…or lanai! Everybody finds many attractive wonders along the Beachwalk and Kaanapali Beach. Which will become YOUR favorite memories?

A prime seasonal draw for Maui is whale watching, which is in its prime during December-April. Most units have unobstructed Pacific views to watch the humpbacks frolic offshore, where they spout, breech, and dive in the channel between Maui, Lanai, and Molokai: Whale watching from the beach is also a popular winter and spring pastime. Remember to bring your binoculars!

A tremendous variety of boat activity will provide you endless hours of relaxing views all day long, whether on your lanai or on Kaanapali Beach itself. You will enjoy watching large charter cataramans, constantly sliding onto and off the beach with their loads of tourists (heading for snorkels, whale pods, or pure sailing trips), parasailing daredevils being towed by boats and soaring 500 feet above the ocean, large dinner cruise yachts and schooners slowly gliding along the shore at sunset, and immense cruise ships passing to/from nearby Lahaina harbor.
